Hyderabad, Oct. 26: The Telangana government has initiated arrangements to bring back the mortal remains of Avilala Sudarshan Goud, a native of Hasanabad village in Jagtial mandal, who was killed in a Russian missile strike in Ukraine on September 1.
His remains are expected to reach Hyderabad in the early hours of October 31, nearly two months after his death. The repatriation process was delayed due to an investigation into the strike and a criminal case registered in connection with the incident.
The state government intervened after Sudarshan Goud’s wife, Bhargavi, sought assistance through the CM Pravasi Prajavani in Hyderabad. Jagtial MLA Dr. Makunuri Sanjay Kumar and Minister Adluri Lakshman Kumar also submitted representations seeking help.
Telangana Coordinates With Indian Embassy for Repatriation
Ahmad Nadeem, Principal Secretary to the General Administration Department (Political), wrote to India’s Ambassador to Ukraine, Anjani Kumar, on October 24, requesting assistance in bringing back the remains.
Mandha Bheem Reddy, vice-chairman of the Telangana Government’s NRI Advisory Committee, shared details of the arrangements.
As air travel remains restricted in Ukrainian airspace, the coffin is scheduled to be transported by road to Poland. From there, the remains will be flown from Warsaw to Amsterdam before being transported to Hyderabad.
The journey is scheduled to begin on October 29. After the remains arrive in Hyderabad, arrangements will be made to transport them to Hasanabad village in Jagtial district for the last rites.
The state government’s intervention aims to help the family bring Sudarshan Goud home and perform the final rites after the prolonged repatriation process.
