Hyderabad, June 20: Telangana Minister for Public Enterprises Mohammed Azharuddin on Saturday distributed sarees to women under the Indira Mahila Shakti Saree Distribution Programme at Banjara Bhavan in Banjara Hills and said the state government remained committed to women’s empowerment.
Addressing beneficiaries at the event, Azharuddin said the Telangana government under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was implementing a range of welfare and empowerment measures aimed at improving the economic, educational and social status of women across the state.

He said women’s empowerment remained central to the government’s broader vision of inclusive and sustainable development. The minister also stressed the need to ensure that welfare schemes reach every eligible woman without delay.
Azharuddin highlights welfare measures for women
During the programme, Azharuddin interacted with women beneficiaries and reviewed the distribution process. He said the government was working to strengthen support systems for women through targeted welfare initiatives and social assistance programmes.
The minister said schemes aimed at women were being designed not only to provide immediate support but also to improve long term financial security and access to opportunities. He added that the government was focused on expanding welfare coverage and increasing participation of women in development programmes.
Beneficiaries who attended the event thanked the government for the saree distribution initiative and other welfare measures. The programme was held as part of the state’s outreach efforts to extend support to women through community based welfare activities.
