Telangana: HC Expresses Dissatisfaction Over Low Covid-Tests In State

The Telangana High Court on Thursday expressed dissafisaction over low COVID-19 tests in the state. “It seemed the government is intensifying the tests only when a case is being heard in the case,” the court said.
Hearing the petition filed against the low COVID-19 tests, the court directed the government to conduct at least 50,000 tests per day and eventually increase it to one lakh. The court vented out anger for not properly implementing COVID-19 norms such as using mask and physical distancing as there are chances of COVID-19 second wave.
The court also reacted on the excessive bills being charged by the private hospitals for COVID-19 treatment and asked the government as to what actions have been taken against such hospitals. It further instructed the officials to make RTPCT kits available at district hospitals and also asked to conduct the tests directed by the ICMR.
It observed that the government’s plan in containing coronavirus is not appreciative and asked to filed a counter by November 24. The hearing was adjourned to November 26.
