Telangana Ministers Offer Prayers at Bibi Ka Alam, Reaffirm Support for Muharram Traditions
Hyderabad, July 5 (Maxim News): As part of the ongoing Muharram observances, Telangana Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Adluri Lakshman Kumar paid a special visit to the historic Bibi Ka Alam in Dabirpura on Saturday. The ministers participated in special prayers and reviewed arrangements made by the state government to support the deeply revered tradition.
They were accompanied by MLCs Amir Ali Khan and Mirza Riyaz Ul Hassan Effendi, AIMIM MLA Jaffar Hussain Meraj, Waqf Board Chairman Azmathullah Hussaini, and other senior leaders from the minority community.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar conveyed the greetings and commitment of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka to uphold the significance of Muharram in Telangana. He assured that the government had made elaborate arrangements, including traffic management, security deployment, and logistical support for devotees attending the procession.
One of the key highlights of the visit was the presence of the ceremonial elephant, a longstanding and symbolic part of the centuries-old Bibi Ka Alam procession. Its inclusion once again underscored the government’s efforts to preserve and promote the cultural and religious heritage of Hyderabad during Muharram.
The Bibi Ka Alam procession, a cornerstone of Hyderabad’s Muharram commemorations, continues to draw people from across communities, symbolizing harmony, devotion, and the city’s unique cultural identity.
