Telangana Need Equal Share of Water: Rajat Kumar
Hyderabad, Oct.12 (Maxim News): Irrigation Wing Principal Secretary Rajat Kumar said that Telangana urged Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) to allot equal share of waters in Krishna basin to.
He attended the crucial meeting on Krishna water issue and Gazette Notification that is to be implemented from October 14.
Chairman of the Krishna board MP Singh chaired the meeting with the officials of both Telugu states.
Rajat Kumar stated that the government will take a decision on the crucial issue of Gazette implementation by Oct 14.
AP Govt is seeking permission for power production and we asked for equal share of waters and 105 tmc now in Krishna River for its requirements.
He said that the Government will inform its decision to both the Centre and AP governments.
We are not ready to lose our share and as per protocols will generate power for Kharif season requirements.
We urged the board how they will manage the projects if taken over in future and what cost it requires to maintain.
The two states oppose the boards seeking them to deposit Rs 200 cr each towards projects maintenance.
The Telangana government urged the board to allocate 570 tmc as per its share Rajat Kumar said and asked for surplus water for Kalwakurty, Nettempadu, Bhima and Koil Sagar projects.
Until the new tribunal comes into effect 105 tmc water has to be allotted to its needs, Rajat Kumar said.
The state opposes the board plan to take all projects under its purview.
The AP Government appealed for power generation following protocols.
Secretary Shyamala Rao said that Hydel power production can be done in Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar as per norms.
The AP government appealed that as per protocol power generation cannot be taken up without protocols.
We are ready to give detailed project reports (DPRs) to the board, he said.
The two boards of Krishna and Godavari asked the states to give Rs 200 cr for maintenance as the government is yet to decide on this, he said. (Maxim News).
