Khammam/Hyderabad, Sept 19 (Maxim News): Political parties in Telangana have begun preparations for the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Graduates’ MLC election, following the schedule announced by Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharshan Reddy for fresh preparation of the electoral rolls.
The term of sitting MLC Chintapandu Naveen, popularly known as Teenmar Mallanna, is scheduled to end in March 2027. According to the schedule issued on September 17, a public notice for voter registration will be issued on September 28, with the final electoral roll scheduled for publication on December 30.
The election will see parties focus on selecting candidates and reaching out to graduates across the three erstwhile districts.
Rakesh Reddy Campaigns as Parties Weigh Candidates
In the biennial election held on May 27, 2024, Congress candidate Teenmar Mallanna defeated BRS candidate A Rakesh Reddy, with the result declared on June 8. The seat had fallen vacant after then BRS MLC Dr Palla Rajeshwar Reddy resigned following his election as an MLA from Jangaon in the 2023 Assembly polls.
Rakesh Reddy, whose candidature has not yet been officially announced for the upcoming election, has already begun meeting graduates across the constituency. He has also been organising various programmes as part of his outreach efforts.
Issues concerning government jobs, recruitment, education and the concerns of unemployed graduates are expected to feature prominently during the campaign.
The Jana Sena Party has already announced former Health Director Gadala Srinivas Rao as its candidate. The Congress and BJP are yet to announce their nominees.
Several names are reportedly being discussed within the Congress. They include State Tourism Corporation Chairman Patel Ramesh Reddy, Vijaya Dairy Chairman Gutta Amith Reddy, OU JAC leader Lokesh Yadav, Singapuram Indira, Ramireddy Sarvothama Reddy, Ponguleti Prasad Reddy, Nalgonda DCC president Punna Kailash Neta and RTI Commissioner PV Srinivas, among others.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka reportedly held a meeting with key leaders from the three erstwhile districts in Hyderabad during the first week of September to discuss the party’s strategy for the graduates’ constituency.
According to party sources, Vikramarka asked leaders to follow the high command’s decision on the candidate and work collectively for the party’s campaign.
The electoral roll preparation process is expected to be a key initial step, with parties likely to intensify their outreach among eligible graduates once the registration process begins.
