Narsannapeta/Hyderabad, Sept 19 (Maxim News): A private travel bus from Kothagudem in Telangana caught fire while travelling towards Palasa in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district on Saturday. All seven passengers escaped unhurt, police said.
According to Srikakulam district Superintendent of Police K V Maheshwar Reddy, the incident occurred at around 9.30 am in Narsannapeta village.
The bus had started its journey from Kothagudem and was carrying only seven passengers. An onlooker noticed the fire and alerted the driver, allowing the passengers to get off the bus before the flames spread.
Passengers Evacuated Before Fire Spread
“It was a private travel bus, and there were only seven people on board. Before the fire started spreading, the passengers alighted,” Reddy told PTI.
The SP said the bus belonged to KVR Travels. The exact cause of the fire had not been established at the time of reporting.
Police and other authorities were assessing the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The incident comes amid several reports of bus fires in Andhra Pradesh in recent months, raising concerns over the safety of private and public transport vehicles.
No injuries were reported in the latest incident.
