Hyderabad, June 13: Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) C.V. Anand on Friday reviewed the situation in rain-hit parts of Hyderabad and directed police personnel across the state to remain on high alert amid continuing heavy rainfall.
The DGP visited Malkampet Cheruvu, Tolichowki and the Botanical Gardens nala to assess the impact of the rains and review mitigation measures being taken by various departments.
The visit comes as several parts of Hyderabad and other districts in Telangana continue to experience heavy showers, leading to waterlogging, traffic congestion and localized flooding.

During the inspection, DGP Anand was accompanied by Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh and Cyberabad Municipal Commissioner Srujana. The officials reviewed ongoing efforts to clear waterlogged areas, regulate traffic and improve stormwater flow in vulnerable locations.
A key focus of the inspection was the Botanical Gardens nala, which witnessed severe waterlogging during last year’s monsoon. Officials reviewed measures undertaken to prevent a recurrence, including widening the drainage vent and removing a portion of the retaining wall to facilitate smoother flow of rainwater.
Police Review Rain Preparedness Measures
The DGP instructed police officers to maintain constant vigilance and ensure swift responses to rain-related emergencies. He directed field personnel to assist stranded citizens, regulate traffic movement and work closely with civic authorities and disaster management agencies.
He also ordered all police units across Telangana to remain prepared for emergencies caused by heavy rainfall and potential flooding. Police control rooms and field teams have been asked to monitor vulnerable areas and provide immediate assistance wherever required.
Emphasising public safety, Anand urged citizens to exercise caution during adverse weather conditions. He advised people to avoid waterlogged roads, remain alert while travelling and follow official advisories issued by authorities.
The Telangana Police chief stated that timely response and coordinated action remain critical during the ongoing monsoon season. He reiterated that the police department is committed to ensuring public safety and providing prompt assistance to residents affected by heavy rains.
The state has been witnessing intermittent heavy rainfall over the past few days under the influence of active monsoon conditions. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and take precautionary measures in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
