Telangana Police Operation In Delhi Arrests Over 50 Nigerians
- Telangana Eagle Team leads major drug crackdown with NCB and Delhi Crime Branch
- Operation identifies drug networks, mule accounts and courier supply routes
Hyderabad: Telangana Police carried out a major operation in New Delhi and arrested more than 50 Nigerians who had overstayed their residence permits. Officials said the Telangana Eagle Team worked with the Narcotics Control Bureau and the Delhi Crime Branch during this joint action. They added that the operation was part of a larger effort to make Telangana a drug free state. The team found these individuals in 20 areas of New Delhi and took them into custody.
The operation also led to the arrest of key accused linked to drug cases in cities such as Noida, Gwalior, Visakhapatnam and other locations. Investigators said they seized 5,340 X Citi tablets, 250 grams of cocaine, 109 grams of heroin and 250 grams of methamphetamine from four places. They added that they identified 59 mule accounts and 16 drug centres in Delhi. The Eagle Team also froze 107 bank accounts belonging to Nigerians. Officials said they arrested a Nigerian named Nick in connection with the Malnad restaurant and Mahindra University cases.
Investigators said they identified more than 2,000 drug users and peddlers from this gang across the country. They explained that the gang used courier services to move drugs. According to them, drugs were packed in parcels and hidden inside shoes, clothes, cosmetic items and sandals. They also used courier networks such as Shri Maruti Couriers, DTDC, Professional Couriers, Ship Rocket, India Post, Delhi Veri, Blue Dart and Track On to transport the parcels.
Officials said New Year celebrations are nearing and the Eagle Team launched this massive operation to control drug activity. They stated that the operation exposed an international drug network. They added that the 50 people arrested in Delhi will be moved to Hyderabad. After the transfer, they will be produced in court and questioned further. Officials said they expect more key facts to emerge in the coming days and more arrests are possible based on the information gathered so far. (Maxim News)
