Hyderabad, Sept. 12 (Maxim News): Telangana Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said the state government is providing financial support to artists who played a key role in the Telangana statehood movement.
The minister said the government has paid Rs 1 crore each to eight prominent figures from the arts and literary fields. These figures contributed to the movement for the formation of Telangana.
The eight recipients include Gaddar, Guda Anjaiah, Ande Sri, Gorati Venkanna, Suddala Ashok Teja, Jayaraj, Pasam Yadagiri and Ekka Yadagiri.
Krishna Rao said the government wants to use their services to preserve Telangana’s folk arts and cultural traditions. He said the administration is taking steps to ensure these art forms do not fade away.
Telangana Statehood Artists and Folk Culture
The minister stressed the importance of folk arts in preserving the history of the Telangana movement. He said future generations may lose an important connection with the statehood struggle if folk traditions disappear.
According to Krishna Rao, artists and literary figures played an important role in spreading awareness during the movement. Their songs, writings and performances helped communicate the demands and aspirations linked to Telangana statehood.
