Telangana Steps Up School Bus Safety Measures
Hyderabad, July 24 (Maxim News) In a move to bolster school and college bus safety, Telangana’s Transport Minister, Ponnam Prabhakar, outlined several initiatives during the Legislative Assembly session here on Wednesday.

Over 24,000 school buses received mandatory fitness certificates a month before the academic year began. The process involves online booking, inspections, and driver counseling to guarantee the safety of students.
Adhering to central and state regulations, authorities are phasing out buses exceeding 15 years of operation.

Fire extinguishers, phone number displays for emergencies, and medical kits are now mandatory on all school buses.
A program is being developed to optimize bus routes and ensure timely arrivals. Additionally, a collaborative effort with the education department aims to implement a school bus tracking system.

Partnering with UNICEF, the government will introduce traffic safety education programs for students.
