Hyderabad, August 6: The Telangana government will begin distributing 1.05 crore newly sanctioned laminated Public Distribution System (PDS) ration cards across the State from August 15. The initiative aims to ensure that newly eligible families receive the benefits of various welfare schemes.
Irrigation, Food and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has issued an official memorandum directing officials to make necessary arrangements for the statewide distribution programme.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will formally launch the distribution programme in Sangareddy on Independence Day. Simultaneously, ration cards will be distributed in all 119 Assembly constituencies across Telangana.
The government has directed district administrations to coordinate with Revenue Divisional Officers (RDOs) to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme.
According to the official schedule, ration cards will be distributed between 2 pm and 4 pm on August 15.
Officials have been instructed to complete all preparations in advance, including finalising beneficiary lists, printing and transporting ration cards, setting up distribution centres, arranging public facilities, and managing media coverage, photography and videography.
The State government said the programme is intended to ensure that every newly eligible household is included in the Public Distribution System and gains access to government welfare benefits.
