Hyderabad, August 6: Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Thursday said the State government is preparing a comprehensive Telangana Motor Vehicle Aggregator Policy to make app based transport services safer, more transparent and passenger friendly.
The Minister said a special committee comprising officials from relevant departments has been constituted to draft the policy after holding extensive consultations with stakeholders.
Ponnam Prabhakar said the committee has consulted aggregator companies, drivers, vehicle owners, passenger representatives, transport operators, technical experts and government departments to gather suggestions for the proposed policy.
According to the Minister, the committee examined key issues including passenger safety, driver welfare, vehicle fitness, permits, insurance, safety standards, aggregator registration, digital monitoring, fare transparency and grievance redressal mechanisms.
He said the proposed policy will also focus on the safety of women passengers and women drivers, vehicle monitoring systems, data coordination with government departments and the promotion of electric and environment friendly vehicles.
Ponnam Prabhakar said the government is committed to striking a balance between passenger safety, driver welfare, legitimate transport services, technology adoption, environmental protection and ease of doing business.
The committee is currently finalising its recommendations and will submit its report to the government soon. After reviewing the report, the government will take further steps to implement the Telangana Motor Vehicle Aggregator Policy through the prescribed policy process.
