Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao instructed officials to initiate measures for introduction of Telugu as a compulsory subject to be taught in all private and Government schools in the State with effect from the 2018-19 academic year.
He said a legislation would be passed in the current budget session of the State Legislature to facilitate implementation of the policy. He also instructed officials from the Education Department to ensure that at least one Telugu Pandit is appointed in all the private schools.
