Ten gates of Srisailam lifted up

Kurnool, August 11: The officials of the irrigation department lifted 10 of the 12 crest gates of the Srisailam reservoir and released the water downstream. Due to the continuous rains in the catchment areas, the Srisailam reservoir released a heavy inflow. As per the reports, the reservoir at present receives 3,64,683 cusecs of water from the Tungabhadra and Krishna rivers.

The officials lifted the 10 crest gates up to 10 ft height and released 3,56,436 cusecs of water to Nagarjuna Sagar. Visitors and devotees of Srisailam are making a beeline to the dam to capture the beautiful vistas. Earlier, the officials lifted three gates of the Srisailam reservoir on 23 July and later lifted seven gates on 6th August of this season.
