Tension in Madhapur as Residents Protest HYDRAA Eviction Survey Near Sunnam Cheruvu

Hyderabad, June 24 (Maxim News): Tension gripped Madhapur’s Ayyappa Society on Monday as residents staged a protest against the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) over an ongoing eviction survey near Sunnam Cheruvu. The demonstrators accused the authorities of attempting to displace families under the pretext of a land survey aimed at future demolitions.

Residents Decry Land Discrepancies

Protesters claimed that HYDRAA officials were wrongly marking 32 acres around Sunnam Cheruvu as lake land, even though the water body covers only 15 acres. Locals alleged that their homes, built with legal permissions decades ago, are now being targeted unfairly.

“We are being forced to vacate our houses without proper justification. The court has already granted a stay on this survey, but officials continue to harass us,” said one of the protesting residents.

Protest Leads to Traffic Chaos

The demonstration spilled onto the main road, leading to major traffic snarls in Madhapur and nearby areas during peak hours. Some protesters, in a desperate plea for justice, were seen carrying petrol bottles and threatening self-harm, demanding the government stop the eviction drive immediately.

Police Intervene

Police teams rushed to the spot, pacified the agitated crowd, and restored order. Senior officers assured the residents that their grievances would be conveyed to higher authorities and urged them to maintain peace.
