The final voter list was purged for 100 percent voter registration: District Election Officer

Hyderabad, October 16: District Election Officer, GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose said that the final voter list has been cleared for 100 percent voting registration in Hyderabad district. A press conference on voting awareness and election management was held at Panwar Hall of GHMC headquarters on Monday.

After the release of the final voter list, 44,680 dead and duplicate votes were removed by October 9, he said. He said that since the last four months, 3,56,830 votes in different polling stations in the same constituency in the names of members of the same family have been rectified. After the nomination, they will go door to door and distribute voter slips, he said. He said that ASD lists will be prepared during the distribution of voter slips and that list will be handed over to the concerned ROs. He said that during the elections, the Covid regulations will have to be followed. He said that special arrangements have been made for the old and disabled at the polling booth. He said that in this election, the Election Commission has given the opportunity to people above 80 years of age and disabled people to vote from home, and those above 80 years of age, who are identified in the voter list, are already being handed over Form-12D to their homes. After giving the option, no one should come to the polling station and vote.

Talking about the election rules, he said that special observers will come from the Election Commission from November 3, and since then, SST teams will be appointed and strict measures will be taken. He said that as the code of conduct of elections is in force, the citizens should have the relevant documents if they carry cash beyond their account. He said that a District Grievance Cell has been set up in the Hyderabad District Collector’s office to examine the money seized during the inspection.

He said that the concerned RO will issue a public notice on the nomination dates and the date of nomination will be mentioned in that notice. He said that nominations will be received from November 3 to November 10, scrutiny on 13, with drawal, symbol allotment on 15 and list of candidates will be announced. He said that postal ballot will be issued later. He said that BU, CU and VVPAT have been prepared more than what was prescribed for conducting the elections.

Flying squad teams have so far seized Rs 70 lakh in cash while police personnel have seized Rs 18.9 crore as part of the election code of conduct. 133 FIRs, 2,389 weapons have been deposited, he said. He said that 1 lakh 50 thousand wall painting, removal of posters, 64,666 idols of politicians were covered, 2,300 liters of liquor was seized and 128 cases were booked.
