Thiruvananthapuram Fire: Buses Burn in Explosion
Hyderabad: A massive fire accident in the early hours of Monday morning in the Chenkottukonam area near Kerala’s capital Thiruvananthapuram created panic among residents. At around 2.30 am, school buses parked at the Scottish School near Pallipuram in Trivandrum suddenly exploded, triggering loud noises and flames.
Locals woke up to the sound of explosions and immediately alerted the police and fire brigade. Soon after, fire personnel rushed to the spot and began efforts to douse the flames.
Three school buses gutted in Thiruvananthapuram fire
In the Thiruvananthapuram fire incident, three school buses parked inside the school premises caught fire and were completely burnt. Another bus suffered partial damage. Fire brigades from Kazakuttam and Chakai fire stations also reached the spot and worked for nearly two hours to bring the blaze under control.
Speaking about the incident, the Kazakuttam fire station officer said that two school buses and a traveler vehicle were completely burnt to ashes in the fire accident. He clarified that no one was inside the vehicles at the time of the explosion and there was no loss of life.
Meanwhile, the loud blasts in the early morning hours raised several suspicions. The school staff expressed concern after noticing that the traveler vehicle, which is usually parked opposite the buses, had moved closer to them at the time of the accident. Initially, it was assumed that someone may have pushed the vehicle intentionally and that the fire may have started from the traveler.
Police officials said they are investigating whether the fire broke out due to a short circuit in the engine wiring or if someone deliberately set the vehicles on fire. They added that a full-scale investigation will be carried out based on CCTV footage.
The incident has caused significant loss to the school management, as three buses were destroyed in the Thiruvananthapuram fire. Authorities continue to probe the exact cause of the explosion.
