Hyderabad, June 29 (Maxim News) : Adilabad police arrested three people for allegedly sharing provocative social media posts that distorted a school incident in Armour town and promoted communal hatred. Police said the accused circulated misleading content that could disturb public peace.
The arrests followed an investigation into social media posts linked to an incident at a school in Armour town. Police said the content misrepresented the incident and attempted to create religious tension.
Police Warn Against Sharing Unverified Content
According to Adilabad District Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan, police arrested Abdul Azim, deputy sarpanch of Srichallum village in Echoda mandal. Officers alleged that he uploaded a provocative video to his WhatsApp status. They also seized his mobile phone as part of the investigation.
Police also arrested Mohammed Younis, 20, from Islampur, and Jadi Jaswant, 18, from Ankari Guda village in Indervelly mandal. Investigators said both shared social media posts that allegedly promoted communal tension.
Police registered cases against all three accused under relevant legal provisions. Further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, SP Akhil Mahajan warned that police will take strict action against anyone who shares posts, videos, or messages that incite religious hatred or disrupt law and order.
He also urged the public to verify information before forwarding it on social media. Moreover, he advised WhatsApp group administrators to monitor the content shared in their groups. He cautioned that group admins could also face legal action if they allow the circulation of unlawful or inflammatory content.
The police appealed to citizens to act responsibly online and cooperate with authorities in maintaining communal harmony and public order. (Maxim News)
