Three Migrant Laborers Test Positive for Covid-19 in Mancherial

Mancherial: Three migrant laborers, who returned from Mumbai, tested positive for Covid-19 at Rapalli village in Hajipur mandal of Mancherial district on Saturday night.

In-charge District Medical and Health Officer Dr Neeraja said all three hail from Rapalli village. They were shifted to a quarantine centre and are under observation.

Hajipur police said the three returned to the native place late on May 4 by a four-wheeler they had hired. They, however, were following home quarantine and did not come in physical contact with their family members as they were staying outside their house. Their blood samples were sent to Hyderabad as they were suffering from fever on Friday.

Meanwhile, Mancherial MLA Nadipelli Diwakar Rao visited the village and requested the locals to practice physical distancing to prevent the spread of acute respiratory disease. There was no cause for panic since the government was taking all measures to check the spread of the virus, he said. DCP D Uday Kumar Reddy also visited Rapalli.

With these three, Mancherial district has so far registered four positive cases of novel coronavirus. A woman from Muttaraopalli village in Chennur mandal contracted the disease in April, but it is still not known how she was infected. As many as 260 foreign returnees have been identified and 1,239 persons completed home quarantine.
