Jagtial, June 9: Three workers from Telangana were among seven people killed in a tragic road accident in Dubai after a minibus crashed into a stationary truck on Emirates Road on Monday.
According to reports, five other passengers sustained serious injuries, while four suffered moderate injuries in the mishap.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Rafiq from Metpalli Mandal, Sayed Saleem from Kodimial Mandal and Gajula Tirupati from Mallial Mandal, all residents of Jagtial district in Telangana.
Among the injured is Mohammed Sayeed from Hyderabad, who is undergoing treatment at a local hospital. Sources said he is out of danger.
All the victims were employed at an aluminium glass and door frame manufacturing company based in Sharjah and owned by an Indian entrepreneur from Kerala.
According to Dubai Police, the truck had stopped on the road due to a technical fault. Preliminary investigations indicated that the minibus driver failed to maintain a safe distance and could not stop in time, resulting in the collision.
Police said the driver may have failed to pay adequate attention to the traffic situation ahead, leading to the fatal crash.
Following the incident, the Indian Consulate contacted the families of the deceased and injured workers. A team of consular officials also visited the hospital and met the survivors to gather details about the accident and extend assistance. Further details are awaited.
