TMC RS MP Resigns: Eleven LS MPs Met Union Minister

Delhi/Hyderabad, June 8 (Maxim News): Internal differences in the Trinamool Congress (TMC) have intensified. The party’s MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy resigned from his Rajya Sabha membership on Monday. He announced that he is giving up the party’s primary membership. He wrote a letter to TMC chief Mamata Banerjee stating that he is leaving the party. There are reports that another MP Koyal Mallick will also resign from his Rajya Sabha seat.

After the resignation of one of the senior leaders of TMC, Sukhendu, political mobilizations are taking place rapidly in the party. As part of this, 11 TMC Lok Sabha MPs met Sukhendu in New Delhi. It is understood that all the MPs discussed the possibility of forming a TMC splinter group. However, it is said that the discussions have not yet reached a conclusion.

MPs meet Union Minister and CM Suvendu

Meanwhile, reliable sources have informed that Sukhendu Shekhar, who resigned from TMC, and 11 other TMC MPs met Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav in New Delhi. It is learnt that Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari also participated in this meeting. The 11 TMC Lok Sabha MPs who attended were Howrah MP Prasoon Banerjee, Bardhaman Purba MP Sharmila Sarkar, Bankura MP Arup Chakraborty, Jhagram MP Kalipada Soren, Cooch Behar MP Jagdish Chandra Basunia, Barasat MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Barrackpore MP Partha Bhowmik, Mudurapur MP Bapi Haldar, Birbhum MP Shatabdi Roy, Bolpur MP Asit Kumar Mal, and Medinipur MP June Mallia.

Sukhendu’s bitter letter

Sukhendu Shekhar, in his resignation letter, mentioned the rampant corruption in the party. He said that the people have rejected the anarchy prevailing in various sectors including oppression of women, education, healthcare, industry, employment and law and order. He said that for the first time in the history of Bengal, the BJP has given a huge victory to the voters and the new government has already started steps towards implementing the promises made in the elections. These key developments came during Mamata Banerjee’s participation in the ‘India’ alliance meeting held in Delhi on Monday. (Maxim News)
