Hyderabad, June 16: A 16 month old toddler girl died after accidentally falling into a water filled bucket while playing at her house in Kanchanbagh, police said.
The incident occurred in C Block of Hafeez Baba Nagar and left the family in shock.
According to police, the child’s father, Mohd Asif Khan, works in sheet lining services and lives with his wife Habiba Unnisa and their three daughters near Harmain Masjid.
The family had attended a function at a relative’s house near Omar Farooq Masjid on June 14. While Asif returned home later, his wife and children remained at the venue.
Police said that around 1 am on June 15, the toddler, identified as Ayanan, was bathed by her mother after she soiled herself.
Believing the child was playing with nearby children, the mother briefly stepped away.
Soon after, the child’s uncle, Mohd Moin, noticed the girl submerged in a bucket of water while going to wash his hands in the bathroom area.
Family members immediately shifted the child to a nearby private hospital and later moved her to Niloufer Hospital for treatment.
However, doctors could not save the child and she died while undergoing treatment later that day.
Kanchanbagh Police registered a case and started an investigation.
