- Triple talaq complaint says husband assaulted woman and removed her from home
- Police register FIR against eight people in Sonbhadra dowry dispute
Hyderabad: A triple talaq case has been registered in Sonbhadra district after a woman alleged that her husband assaulted her, gave her triple talaq, and forced her out of their home. Police said the complaint was filed at the Mahila police station on November 12 by Ayesha Parveen, a resident of the NPCC Colony in Anpara. She stated that she married Faisal Ahmed, also from Anpara, on July 14, 2022. Superintendent of Police Abhishek Verma confirmed the details on Thursday.
According to her complaint, Ayesha said her mother gave her Rs 3.5 lakh in cash and jewellery at the time of marriage. However, she told police that her husband, her mother in law Salma Begum, and other family members continued to harass her for dowry. She also accused her brother in law Saqib of casting an “evil eye” on her. Ayesha claimed that the harassment escalated into assault by her husband and his family. She further said that Faisal then gave her a triple talaq and threw her out of the house. She has since been staying with her mother in Ballia.
Meanwhile, Ayesha alleged that on October 30 she came to know that her husband had married again. She also accused an individual from Duddhi in Sonbhadra district of helping arrange this second marriage. The complaint stated that this discovery caused further distress, as it followed the earlier allegations of violence and harassment.
Police said they reviewed the complaint and registered an FIR against eight people. The names include Ayesha’s husband, her mother in law, her brother in law, and her sister in law. SP Abhishek Verma said the FIR covers allegations of dowry harassment, assault, and triple talaq. The investigation will now move forward based on the statements and evidence gathered.
The case has drawn attention because it combines allegations of domestic violence, dowry demands, and triple talaq. Authorities said they will take further action as the inquiry progresses. The matter remains under investigation and police will record more statements in the coming days.
