Khammam, November 28: Congress president Rahul Gandhi has alleged that both TRS and MIM want BJP to win again at the Centre.
Addressing a massive public meeting at Government Degree College Grounds in Khammam on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narender Modi of destroying all the democratic institutions one after the other. “Whether it is Supreme Court, CBI, RBI or Elections, Modi is damaging all of them,” he said.
“At one side we have KCR family and on the other side there are farmers, youth, students, women, traders and other people of Telangana. After winning elections in Telangana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh, the same coalition will work to defeat Modi. First we will defeat Modi’s B-Team and then we will fight A-Team in Delhi,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi condemned PM Modi for stating that there was no difference between TRS and Congress. “While Congress is fighting against Modi Government in all bills in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, TRS is supporting BJP,” he said.
He said TRS and MIM both wants Modi to win again. However, he said the Congress, TDP, CPI and TJS will jointly defeat BJP and TRS. At the time of bifurcation, he said Telangana was promised a Railway Coach Factory at Qazipet, Steel Factory at Bayyaram, a Tribal Factory and financial incentives. Similarly, Andhra Pradesh was promised a Special Category Status. Congress wants all promises made with TS and AP be honoured, he said adding that Modi did not fulfil these promises and KCR cheated the people of Telangana by supporting Modi. He question KCR’s continued support to Modi Government which gave nothing to Telangana.
“People fought for Telangana for water, jobs and funds. However, instead of doing some work, KCR re-designed the projects to escalate their costs. Pranahita Chevella project, which was originally estimated at Rs. 50,000 crore, was redesigned to increase the cost to Rs. 90,000 crore. It has cost nearly Rs. 40,000 crore of public exchequer just for renaming. This has become world’s costliest name change project. Similarly, huge money was wasted just to paint old tanks in the name of Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi also slammed KCR Govt for pushing Telangana into huge debts. From a revenue-surplus of Rs. 17,000 crore, today Telangana has debts of over Rs. 2 lakh crore with each individual having a debt burden of Rs. 60,000. At one side, people are being pushed into huge debts. On the other side, KCR’s son KTR’s income rises by 400 times in four years. Telangana’s money is being given to KCR’s friends, he alleged.
He said youth gave their blood and sweat for Telangana. But KCR and Modi did not give them promised jobs. While Modi had promised 2 crore jobs in a year, KCR had promised to fill 1 lakh vacancies. But only one KCR family in Telangana got the jobs, he said.
The Congress president also accused TRS Government of running the land mafia to take away farmers’ land. Thousands of farmers committed suicide. They did not get proper MSP and they were beaten up when they asked for remunerative prices. Crop loan waiver was faulty and did not help the farmers, he said.
Stating that the Congress party respects farmers of Telangana, Rahul Gandhi announced that the next Government would waive off crop loans up to Rs. 2 lakh and would ensure proper MSP for 17 major crops. Alleging that KCR has forgotten the martyrs of Telangana, he promised that the families of all martyrs would be given Rs. 10 lakh and other incentives. He said all political cases registered during the agitation would be withdrawn.
“Our Chief Minister will work for 18 hours to get jobs for youth. Without women we cannot move forward. Congress and TDP believe in the concept of women empowerment through Self Help Groups. But TRS Govt discouraged them. We will give Rs. 1 lakh grant to all women SHGs and also allocate Rs. 500 crore for women entrepreneurs. Housing and land are major problems in Telangana. KCR had promised 22 lakh houses, but gave less than 5,000 units. He also promised 3 acres of land for Dalits and Girijans, but no one got it. We will give land and houses. Unemployed youth will be given Rs. 3,000 per month allowance and we will fill 1 lakh vacancies in the first year of formation of government,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi said that poor people were being forced to spend on health and education. “KCR is giving your money to contractors. But we will spend that money on government hospitals, colleges and universities. We will ensure treatment and education at minimum cost. A 30-bedded hospital will be established in every mandal. We will also ensure free treatment up to Rs. 5 lakh for everyone,” he said.
The Congress president that the People’s Front was the voice of the people of Telangana and asked the workers of all parties in the front to work unitedly at booth level to defeat TRS.
Addressing the meeting, TPCC President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy described the meeting as historic. He said both Modi and KCR Governments were fascists and damaging all democratic institutions in the country. He said the alliance of Congress, TDP, TJS and CPI was a historical necessity. He said TRS Government has cheated and looted the people of Telangana and it must be thrown out of power.
Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed confidence that the People’s Front would win all 10 Assembly seats of undivided Khammam district. He directed the Congress party workers to work in close coordination with the activists of alliance parties.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP National President Nara Chandrababu Naidu, in his speech, slammed the Modi and KCR Governments and accused them of cheating the people. He said Modi Government has damaged all institutions like CBI, ED and RBI. He said no one has gained anything from NDA Government in the last four years. He said demonitisation and GST has badly hit the common man and the Modi Govt has unleashed an atmosphere of hatred and intolerance across the country.
The meeting was also addressed by TPCC Campaign Committee chairman Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, CPI National Secretary Survaram Sudhakar Reddy, Telangana TDP President L. Ramana, MRPS chief Krishna Madiga and other leaders while balladeer Gaddar sung his famous song ‘Podusthunna’ amid loud cheers from the audience. (Maxim News)
