TRS Leaders Must Stop Betraying Farmers: NV Subhash

Hyderabad, April 25 (Maxim News): Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders are keeping farmers in illusion and making their own trumpet. They must realize at least now and take immediate steps to resolve the issues of farmers in the State, BJP State Spokesperson N V Subhash on Saturday demanded.

Subhash took strong exception at the criticism made by MLC and Rythubandhu Samithi chairman Palla Rajeswar Reddy and Minister for BC Welfare and civil supplies Gangula Kamalakar against BJP State president Bandi Sanjay on his one-day fast demanding solution to the farmers’ issues in the State. He said BJP has brought the issues of farmers and farm labour to the notice of the government on several occasions. But it failed to respond to the representations. In turn, false cases have been foisted against the farmers who sought justice, he said.

The BJP leader said the Telangana government has not taken any care for farmers during the lockdown period. When the BJP president Bandi Sanjay observed one day fasting in support of the farmers, the TRS leaders are making false allegations against him. The farmers are facing difficulties such as finding labour, abnormal delay in purchasing paddy by the government and inadequate facilities at IKP centres at a time when their crops reached the yielding stage with clamping of lockdown. Bharatiya Janata Party demanded immediate steps to resolve the problems of farmers. Unfortunately, the government did not respond to the requests made by BJP for the past one week, he lamented.

The TRS leaders are playing dramas as if they are working for resolving the issues of farmers, he said and added that they must realize that the people are observing their actions. Reacting to Minister Gangula Kamalakar’s remarks against BJP State president Bandi Sanjay, he said BJP does not need to open political kiosks since BJP is in the forefront with regard to fight for the farmers. He has no moral right to level charges against a leader like Bandi Sanjay. The one-day fast is aimed at waking up the government which is in deep slumber. When the BJP president, who is well aware of farmers’ issues is fighting for them, the TRS leaders are continuing their political games, Subhash remarked.

The ruling party leaders are enjoying their time when the farmers are destroying their own crops in flames due to lack of support price and no buyers to their produce. The TRS leaders did not commit to safeguarding the interests of the farmers, he said and asked why the government is still dilly-dallying to buy paddy from farmers. Many IKP centres have not commenced its activity, but the State government is repeatedly saying it will purchase the last grain. The government is exploiting the farming community in the name of moisture and wastage. It has announced that it had spent Rs 30 crore to buy paddy from farmers, why it is not paying minimum support price, the BJP leader questioned.

He said the farmers incurred heavy losses due to heavy rains accompanied by hailstorms and they are facing many hardships in selling their produce. The government is harassing them in the name of tokens and draw system. It is not paying deaf ears to the suggestions and advice made by the Opposition parties. The government must stop betraying the farmers, he added.

He further said that one can understand the grave situation as farmers have destroyed their paddy crop in flames in the Assembly constituency of Minister KTR. “When we raised the problems of the farmers, the TRS leaders claim that BJP is playing politics. Instead of protecting the farmers, they are criticizing. The things would have been different in the State if the government has received the suggestions from the opposition parties with an open mind, he said and appealed to the farmers not to resort to committing suicides as BJP will fight for them.

Subhash said Minister Kamalakar has admitted that paddy crop damaged due to the fest like Aggitegulu in the combined Karimnagar district and the millers have caused inconvenience to the farmers. The Minister must clarify that what the steps are taken by the government to protect these distressed farmers, he charged. (Maxim News)
