- Police rush to scene as TSRTC bus collides with paddy-laden tractor
Fifteen persons were injured in a road accident near Renigunta bridge in Thimmapur mandal on Rajiv Rahadari early Tuesday morning. The accident occurred around 5 am when a TSRTC bus from Metpally depot, travelling from Hyderabad to Karimnagar, rammed into a tractor loaded with paddy bags.
The impact of the collision was severe, causing the tractor’s load to spill across the highway. Paddy bags scattered over the road disrupted traffic for a considerable time, forcing vehicles to move slowly and causing congestion in the area. Local commuters and motorists were stranded as the police worked to clear the debris and restore normal traffic flow.
According to reports, the bus passengers and the tractor driver sustained injuries in the crash. Most of the victims suffered minor fractures and bruises, though all were later taken for medical evaluation. The quick response of passers-by helped rescue several passengers trapped in the vehicle immediately after the collision.
Upon being alerted, LMD police arrived swiftly at the scene and coordinated the rescue operation. They moved the injured individuals to the district headquarters hospital in Karimnagar for treatment. Police are examining the circumstances that led to the collision, including whether overspeeding or poor visibility played a role in the early morning mishap. The damaged bus and tractor were later removed from the road to resume traffic flow.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of long-distance public transport buses during dawn hours on the Rajiv Rahadari route, which is known for heavy vehicular movement, including transport vehicles carrying agricultural produce. Authorities are expected to review safety measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
