TSRTC Employees Stage Protest Across The City

Hyderabad: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees staged protests across Hyderabad on Saturday, demanding that Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan approve the merger bill.

The bill, which was sent to the Governor by the State government, would merge the TSRTC with the state government. The employees are protesting against the delay in the Governor’s approval, which has left the future of the TSRTC uncertain.

The protests continued beyond the two-hour time period that the unions had originally announced. Buses at various depots remained at the depots during the protest, causing disruptions to public transportation.

The unions of all RTC employees gathered at district depots in the early morning from 6:30 to 8 am and in Hyderabad staged dharna at various parts of the city.

The Governor has invited the leaders of the RTC unions to a video conference today at 11:30 a.m.

The Governor has reviewed the TSRTC Bill of 2023 and has asked the government to clarify some provisions that are unclear.

The Governor wants to make sure that the bill is in the best interests of both the TSRTC employees and the state.

The government is asked to reply to the Governor’s questions as soon as possible so that the Governor can make an informed decision about the bill.

“I am pained to know about the strike conducted by RTC employees creating inconvenience to the common public…I want to convey that I am always with them even during the previous strike I was with them.. now also I am studying it carefully because their rights should be safeguarded,” the Governor tweeted.
