Meanwhile, the UAE briefly shut its airspace as the military said it was “responding to missile and drone threats from Iran.” The development came at a time of escalating conflict involving several countries in the region. Dubai residents also received a missile alert around the same time, indicating the seriousness of the situation.

Also on Tuesday, the Israeli military said it carried out fresh strikes in Tehran and Beirut. The attacks in the Lebanese capital targeted Hezbollah militants. In Tehran, witnesses reported hearing airstrikes during the night, even as heavy rain and thunderstorms swept across the city.

The conflict has already caused significant casualties. According to officials, at least 1,300 people have been killed in Iran, 850 in Lebanon and 12 in Israel. The United States military also reported that 13 of its service members have been killed and about 200 wounded so far.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said “numerous countries” have told him “they’re on the way” to help police the Strait of Hormuz. However, he also pointed out that some countries have shown reluctance, raising concerns about defence cooperation with the United States.

Across the region, several countries reported defensive actions. Saudi Arabia’s Defence Ministry said it intercepted a dozen drones over its Eastern Province, which houses key oil infrastructure. Similarly, Qatar reported a missile interception, after which a fire broke out in an industrial area. Explosions were also heard near Doha as air defence systems responded.

Later, Qatar’s Defence Ministry confirmed it had intercepted another missile attack. These developments highlight the growing scale of the conflict and the increasing involvement of multiple countries.

Overall, the UAE airspace closure and related incidents underline the rapid escalation in West Asia. Authorities across the region continue to monitor the situation closely as tensions remain high.
