- AIMPLB application in Supreme Court on Waqf registration
- Telangana Waqf Board plans zones, training, infrastructure
Umeed Portal | Hyderabad, Oct 14: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has filed an application in the Supreme Court seeking an extension of the December 5 deadline for the registration of Waqf properties on the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development (Umeed portal), and for simplifying the process to make it more user-friendly.
Stakeholders had earlier requested the Modi government to extend the deadline by at least two years because documents of most Waqf properties are yet to be digitised. Telangana Waqf Board has around 38,929 registered Waqf institutions / estates.
Meanwhile, the Telangana State Waqf Board remains in sleep mode, with only a handful of updates made so far.
Sources indicate that the Telangana State Waqf Board plans to develop all required infrastructure within a week to support the Umeed portal work. Auditors and inspectors will be divided in five zones to speed up verification and updates.

Training sessions on the Umeed portal are planned in all district headquarters. The board will provide infrastructure in every district headquarters to run the process.
According to the input, “All the responsibility will be on Auditor and inspectors, he will headed by Asst. Secretaries.” Accordingly, they will inform the Chief Exective Officer (CEO) and the District Collector.
This internal chain of reporting is being set to ensure timely progress and accountability. The source adds that this is the only way to complete the Umeed portal updates within the available time.
Twelve employees of the Waqf Board have already received training on the Umeed portal recently in Bangaluru. However, the scale of registration and the pending digitisation of documents remain a challenge.
Therefore, the AIMPLB’s plea seeks both more time and a simpler process to ensure that Waqf records are accurately uploaded and validated.
However, even after more than 60 days and despite the High Court clearing the way for the appointment of CEO, the Revanth Reddy led Congress government has yet to make a decision.
