US Warships Heading Towards Iran

Delhi/Hyderabad, Jan 18 (Maxim News): The US is preparing to deploy its military forces around the Islamic Republic in the wake of the escalating anti-government protests in Iran. The nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, considered the most powerful, has reportedly sailed from the South China Sea towards West Asia. The USS Abraham Lincoln, one of the largest and most powerful warships in the world, plays a key role in the US Navy.

The Trump administration made the decision exactly an hour after Iran’s airspace was closed, according to a report by the American news website The Nation. The USS Abraham Lincoln, which was deployed in the South China Sea to monitor Chinese military activities, left for West Asia, the newspaper reported. It will take about a week to reach West Asia. However, US officials have not yet confirmed this information. Meanwhile, the US has chosen a similar path before launching a military attack on Venezuela. The USS Abraham Lincoln has left the South China Sea for the Central Command area, the website White Mouse reporter Kelly Meyer revealed, citing relevant sources.

The Central Command area of operations includes 21 countries in West Asia, Northeast Africa, Central Asia, and South Asia. There are currently no US warships deployed in West Asia. The USS Abraham Lincoln, which is conducting routine surveillance operations in the South China Sea, carries 3-6 destroyers, 1-2 submarines, 7,000-8,000 military personnel, and 65-70 fighter aircraft (F-35, F/A-18), etc.

Separately, the United States has begun the process of evacuating personnel from its military bases in the Middle East. The United States has ordered the evacuation of some personnel from Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the largest US base in the Middle East with about 10,000 troops, by Wednesday evening, Reuters reported. A US official explained that this is not a full evacuation, but only a change in forces. Although the reasons for this were not explained, it is believed to be due to rising tensions with Iran.

Experts commented that the US bringing a very large warship from such a distance does not mean just a small attack, but that it is preparing for a very large attack. Experts said that the US moving a large warship from the Indo-Pacific should be considered as the US planning to stay in the West Asia region for a long time and continue its operations indefinitely.

The US military has begun moving its forces to military bases in West Asia after the US government repeatedly warned the Iranian leadership of severe consequences if it kills protesters in Iran. The execution of 800 protesters scheduled to take place in Iran has been postponed due to Trump’s warnings, White House Press Secretary Carolyn Leavitt said on Thursday. (Maxim News)
