Hyderabad, May 14 (Maxim News): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president and Nalgona MP Capt. N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday demanded the state government to add testing and treatment of Covid-19 to Arogyasri Scheme from Saturday.
He was addressing the media at his residence on the occasion of release of Rahul Gandhi Cares programme poster along with Telangana Youth Congress president Sivasena Reddy. Under Rahul Gandhi Cares programme Youth Congress would take up several relief works for Covid patients in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Central and state governments have miserably failed to contain Covid second wave in the country. He said that neither Prime Minister Narendra Modi nor Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao bothered to control second wave in the country and in the state and forced the people to face severe hardship.
He said that it was atrocious to note that testing kits were not available in the state. He said that Rapid Antigen Tests were failing to find the virus and negative results have been shown. This was one reason for the piling of Covid positive cases in the state. He said that to overcome this problem government should take up RTPCR tests to all the people of Telangana. It would cost just Rs 4 Cr to the exchequer, he said.
Making scathing remarks on the Chief Minister, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that KCR was much interested in making money than protecting the lives of the people.
Stating that the expenditure for the treatment to Covid has been costing more dearer to the people, he said that he has been charged Rs 3 lakhs for hospital stay and for medicines.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the government has devitalized 104 and 108 services in the state. As 108 Ambulance Service was not available, people were forced to cough out thousands of people to hire private ambulances.
Uttam Kumar Reddy informed that about Rs 50,000 to Rs one lakh has been charged for each general bed and each oxygen bed respectively in private hospitals. He said that people were forced to sell all their assets to meet the expenditure of treatment of Covid-19.
“Chief Minister Chandrasekhara Rao has announced in the Assembly that treatment to Covid would be added to Arogyasri in the Assembly. But so far he did not keep his word,” Uttam pointed out.
He informed that treatment to Covid is provided at free of cost in Tamil Nadu and in Andhra Pradesh. At the same time Telangana has failed to provide treatment at free cost and the state government should hang its head in shame.
He lamented that many patients were dying in the hospitals due to the severe shortage of ventilators. He made it clear that government should take responsibility for the deaths in the hospitals due to non availability of oxygen.
He said that government was silent when artificial shortage has been created for Remdisir Injections in the state and added that the Hetero Drugs was granted lands worth thousands of crores of rupees.
Uttam said that it was ironical to note that there was no minister to look after the Health portfolio. Due to this the health officials have to visit farm of KCR to participate in the reviews on health affairs.
He said that the state government neither added Covid to Arogyasri nor implemented Ayushman Bharat Scheme of the Centre in the state. He urged the government to add journalists to front line warrior category.
He conveyed his condolences to the families of the journalists who died due to Covid. He wanted that the government should come to the rescue of the families of deceased journalists.
Uttam Kumar Reddy conveyed his wishes to the Muslim on the occasion of Ramzan festival. He said that Ramzan symbolizes peace, piety and devotion.
Telangana Youth Congress president Sivasena Reddy said that so far they have provided plasma at free of cost to about 246 patients and oxygen to 500. He said that they would strive to create awareness among the people about vaccination. He informed that help desks of YC would start to function in district headquarters from Friday and also said that a control room was opened. (Maxim News)
