“We will not tolerate any attempt to disturb communal harmony. Investigations are underway and strict action will be taken against those responsible,” said a senior officer at the site.

Political Reactions Emerge

BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra, in a strongly worded post on X, condemned the incident and alleged that anti-Hindu elements are once again active in Shivamogga. He stated, “In Ragigudda, miscreants desecrated the idols of Ganesha and Sheshanaga. One idol was thrown into a drain. The Congress government is silently enabling such acts by supporting anti-Hindu forces.”

Vijayendra, who is also the MLA from Shikaripura, criticized the Karnataka Congress government, claiming it is “turning a blind eye” to repeated communal provocations in the region. He warned that failure to act swiftly could escalate tensions further.

Current Status

Authorities have confirmed that the situation is under control, with no untoward incidents reported following the initial discovery. Community leaders have appealed for peace, urging residents to allow the law to take its course.

While no official response has come yet from the Congress-led state government, the incident has sparked a renewed debate over religious harmony, law enforcement, and political accountability in Karnataka.
