VD Satheesan Named As Kerala Chief Minister After UDF Win

Hyderabad, May:14 VD Satheesan named Kerala Chief Minister after UDF win as the Congress high command ended days of suspense over leadership.

V D Satheesan was announced as the new Chief Minister by AICC in charge Deepa Dasmunsi in Delhi on Thursday.

The decision came after 11 days of deliberations. The Congress leadership stepped in to finalise the choice.

The Congress led UDF secured a decisive victory in the recent Assembly elections. However, the Chief Minister selection saw delays due to internal discussions.

Satheesan was among key contenders for the post. Other leaders in the race included K C Venugopal and Ramesh Chennithala.

Party sources said the high command took the final call to avoid further delay. The announcement was made at a press conference in Delhi.

Satheesan has represented the Paravur constituency since 2001. He has been elected as an MLA for six consecutive terms.

He also served as Leader of Opposition in the Kerala Assembly from 2021 to 2026. Party leaders said his experience played a key role in the decision.

The new government is expected to be sworn in soon. Further details are likely to be announced shortly.
