VH Condemns Police Zulum
Hyderabad, June 19 (Maxim News): Senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao on Wednesday faulted the decision of City police not to allow him to reinstall BR Ambedkar statue at Punjagutta circle. He alleged that the police had forcibly taken away the statue and the driver of the lorry in which the statue was kept was missing since then.
Refuting the allegations that he tried to demolish former chief minister Y S Rajashekhara Reddy’s statue at the same circle, Hanumantha Rao clarified that he had only asked the police as to why they allowed YSR statue and why they were not allowing Dr Ambedkar statue at the same place.
Speaking to mediapersons, Hanumantha Rao said it was he who made YSR as PCC president. He also said YSR became the CM of the erstwhile AP State due to his decision to make him PCC president. He reminded CM KCR that the Telangana State was formed due to inclusion of Article 3 in Indian Constitution by Dr BR Ambedkar.
The Congress leader warned the State government that he would go to court if the Ambedkar statue was not returned to him. He alleged that the police had beaten up his party workers and supporters in his presence saying they were abused by the police. He made it clear that he would install the Ambedkar statue at the Punjagutta crossroads at any cost. (Maxim News)
