Vikram 1 Rocket Ready For Launch As Hyderabad Startup Eyes Milestone

Hyderabad, July 2: Skyroot Aerospace is preparing to launch its Vikram 1 rocket, marking a major milestone for India’s private space sector. The Hyderabad based startup has developed the country’s first privately built orbital class launch vehicle.

The maiden test flight has been named Mission Aagaman. The Vikram 1 rocket is positioned at the first launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.

Vikram 1 Rocket Ready for Launch

The launch is expected to take place between July 12 and August 4, subject to technical readiness and weather conditions.

Skyroot Aerospace was founded by former engineers of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The company focuses on developing small satellite launch vehicles for commercial space missions.

The seven storey Vikram 1 is a multi stage launch vehicle designed to place payloads of up to 350 kilograms into low Earth orbit.

The mission is expected to mark the first launch of an orbital class rocket developed by an Indian private company. Skyroot Aerospace is also among India’s unicorn space technology startups.
