Jaipur, August 21: A team of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) faced protests from villagers during a visit to a government primary school in Rampura Kanwarpura village under the Bagru Assembly constituency in Rajasthan.
The incident occurred as the CJP team was carrying out inspections as part of its ‘School Theek Karo’ campaign, which focuses on the condition of government schools.
Villagers Stop CJP Team, Raise Slogans
According to reports, villagers had placed barricades on the road leading to the village before the CJP team arrived. Vehicles entering the area were reportedly being checked.
When the CJP workers reached the village, an argument allegedly broke out between them and the locals.
The situation later escalated, with the villagers reportedly chasing the CJP workers out of the area.
Following the incident, villagers staged a dharna outside the government school and raised slogans against the CJP team.
Bagru Deputy Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Sharma said police had not received any prior information or complaint regarding the incident.
School Classes Held in Buffalo Shed
The government primary school visited by the CJP team was reportedly closed after its building was declared unsafe.
Classes are currently being conducted in a buffalo shed located next to the school, according to reports.
Villagers, who reportedly protested along with BJP workers, said they were capable of repairing the damaged school building. They also claimed that the government had already sanctioned funds for the repair work.
The incident has drawn attention to the condition of the school and the ongoing dispute over access to government educational institutions.
CJP Objects to Restrictions on School Inspections
The incident comes amid reports that the Rajasthan Education Department has restricted the entry of outsiders and media personnel into government schools following inspections by CJP teams.
CJP co-convener Ashutosh Ranka criticised the restrictions and accused the state government of attempting to prevent the condition of government schools from being highlighted.
Ranka alleged that the restrictions reflected a “dictatorial attitude” by the state Education Minister.
He said the CJP would not be deterred by government orders and maintained that the ‘School Theek Karo’ campaign would continue until the condition of government schools across Rajasthan improves.
The reported confrontation has since drawn attention on social media, with videos of the incident being widely circulated online.
