Vizag Steel Plant: FM’s Statement Angers Workers Of Trade Unions
Vijayawada, March 9 (Maxim News): The statement made by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Seetharaman in Parliament over the issue of Vizag Steel Plant has angered the workers of various trade unions of the state. The trade unions along with the leaders and activists of the left parties and civil society organizations held a dharna program in Lenni Center. They have burnt the copies of orders of the privatization of the steel plant.
Speaking on the occasion, CPM State secretariat member V. Uma Maheswara Rao, CITU state leaders, AV Nageswara Rao, Muzafar Ahmed, Dhana Laxmi AITUC leaders Obulesh condemned the statement of the Union Minister and said that it was not proper for the center to behave in such a dictatorial manner on the issue of the steel plant without giving a thought about its workers. They warned the center that they would intensify their agitation if the center did not withdraw its decision on the issue. They also asked the state government to fight on the issue if it was really serious about it. They also targeted the state BJP leaders on the issue and wondered as to why the saffron party leaders were silent on such an important issue.

er was trying to loot the state by privatizing the plant. They called upon the people of the state to hold strong protest programs on the issue in the days to come On the other hand,the activists of various trade unions also held protest programs in Vizag city. The workers of the unions have said that they would not allow the privatization of the Vizag steel plant even it cost their lives. They raised the slogans that Vizag Steel was the right of the people of AP. They also raised slogans against prime minister Narendra Modi.(Maxim News)
