Hyderabad, August 29: A fire broke out at the Charminar Bus Stand early Saturday after garbage near the facility caught fire.
The incident occurred at around 2:28 am on August 29. No injuries were reported, according to the Telangana State Fire Control Room.
Fire officials received information about the blaze and sent one fire engine to the spot. The team brought the fire under control after flames erupted from the garbage heap.
Videos shared on social media showed flames rising from the garbage near the bus stand. Fire personnel could also be seen working to douse the blaze.
According to a Fire Control Room official, a person allegedly threw a lit cigarette into the garbage heap. The cigarette reportedly triggered the fire.
However, authorities did not report any casualties or injuries. Officials also did not report major damage to the bus stand in the immediate aftermath.
MLA Blames Parking Issues for Fire Risk
Charminar MLA Mir Zulfeqar Ali raised concerns over people parking vehicles near the bus stand.
He said authorities had already cautioned people against parking vehicles in the area. He also said he would discuss the issue with GHMC officials.
Ali said he would seek measures to permanently restrict access to the location.
The incident has again highlighted concerns over garbage accumulation and public safety around busy transport facilities.
