Hyderabad, May 18: A fire broke out in a coach of the Sasaram Patna fast passenger train at Sasaram railway station in Bihar on Monday morning. The incident caused panic among passengers present on the platform.
According to railway officials, the train was standing on platform number six around 6 am when flames suddenly erupted from one of the coaches. The affected bogie was completely damaged in the fire.
Railway police and fire department personnel rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. Officials later detached the burnt coach from the train to prevent further damage.
Passenger train coach fire under investigation
Officials suspect that a short circuit may have caused the passenger train coach fire. However, the exact reason will be confirmed after a detailed investigation.
Railway authorities said no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. Videos showing flames rising from the coach later surfaced on social media and went viral.
The incident comes amid recent reports of fire accidents involving trains in different parts of the country.
