WATCH | Hyderabad: Protest At Charminar Against WAQF Act
Hyderabad, April 11 (Maxim News): The Pearl city of Hyderabad on Friday witnessed protests at Charminar, when trending under the hashtag #waqflaw, hundreds gathered in response to increasing dissatisfaction around recent modifications in WAQF laws.
Protesters, including religious scholars, activists and members of the Muslim community, called for “interventions on religious and social rights“.
The latest protests come with a view to the WAQF law, which critics claim that the control of WAQF characteristics centralizes and reduces the role of local and community-based leadership. Detectors claim that changes have threatened the autonomy of religious settlements and can pave the way for possible abuse or government overreach.

The pace of the movement, All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has announced a protest meeting this evening after a Maghrib prayer. The meeting is scheduled to be held in Darussalam, a large political party in Hyderabad, the entire India Majlis-e-ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM)
Sources near the organizers confirmed that senior AIMPLB figures, legal experts and social leaders are expected to address the collection, aimed at emphasizing a legal and political road map to oppose changes.
While the government has defended changes as a measure to streamline the management of WAQF’s parts and to ensure openness, social leaders remain not related, regarding lack of consultation and fear of systemic margins.
Security has increased around large places in the city including Darussalam, as the authorities are ready to protest against possible emissions.
It may be recalled that other organisations against the Waqf Act include Congress party who would be protesting on April 13, AIMIM on April 19 and JAC Telangana on April 26. (Maxim News)
