Why Was the New Waqf Act Implemented Silently? INC In-charge Questions CM Revanth

New Waqf Act | Hyderabad Aug 25 (Maxim News): Osman Bin Mohammed Al Hajri, Contested MLA and In-charge of karwan assembly constituency, INC, has requested the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to take remedial action to challenge the orders passed by the High Court of Telangana for implementation of the Waqf Act 2025.

He asked the Chief Minister to direct the Additional Advocate General (AAG) to take appropriate action accordingly, as it may have adverse and far-reaching effects on waqf properties and shake the confidence of Muslim Minorities in the state in the Congress party.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Osman Bin Mohammed Al Hajri brought to the Chief Minister notice about the implementation of the Wakf Act, 2025 in the state of Telangana basing on the orders of the High Court for the state of Telangana passed in W.P.No.22692/2025 on 05.08.2025 in the case of Mohammed Asadullah CEO waqf Board.

New Waqf Act

The Writ Petition has been filed by one Qutubuddin resident of Gopanpally village, Serilingampally, challenging the orders of the Government issued in G.O.Ms No.54 of Minority Welfare. Consequent on the promotion of Asadullah to the Additional Collector rank, this GO has been issued appointing him as full-time CEO of the Waqf Board.

This GO has been challenged by Qutubuddin, stating that section 23 of the UMEED Act 2025, that is the New Waqf Act 2025, mandates appointment of an officer not below the rank of Joint Secretary, and that Md. Asadullah, the Additional Collector, does not hold the Joint Secretary rank.

The Minority Welfare Department is taking cognisance of the interim orders of the High Court passed in W.P.No.22692/2025 dated 05.08.2025 and CC.No2090/2025 dated: 07.08.2025 and also in IA No.1 & 2 in CC No.2090/2026 dated 07.08.2025, repatriated CEO Md. Asadullah to his parent Revenue Department.

As several malicious allegations were made by the Writ Petitioner Qutbuddin in the writ petition against Asadullah, he filed a Writ Appeal against the orders dated 05.08.2025 and interim orders in CC dated 07.08.2025 of the Single Judge.

This case has been represented by learned Additional Advocate General on behalf of the Government and vehemently argued that CEO Md. Asadullah is not equivalent rank to Joint Secretary as provided under section 23 of the Act 1995 as amended by the Waqf Amendment Act 2025, and placed his arguments supporting the provisions of the Waqf Amendment Act 2025.
