Woman Dies By Suicide Over Stalker Harassment In Jagtial

Jagtial, June 9: A 20 year old woman allegedly died by suicide after facing prolonged harassment from a stalker in Anantharam village of Jagtial Rural mandal. The victim, identified as Saidu Srilatha, was found hanging at her residence on Monday.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

According to police, Srilatha and the accused, Ankathi Raju of Lingampally village in the same mandal, studied together up to Class X.

After completing her graduation, Srilatha was staying at home, while Raju was pursuing the third year of an engineering course.

Police said Raju had allegedly been harassing Srilatha in the name of love for the past three years. Family members stated that she had previously attempted suicide due to the alleged harassment.

Following complaints from the family, village elders reportedly warned Raju and advised him to stay away from her.

However, police said the accused allegedly resumed contacting the victim recently. On Monday, he is alleged to have threatened her over the phone.

Distressed by the incident, Srilatha reportedly took the extreme step later that day. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the case and further action is underway.
