Hyderabad, June 9: Gold ornaments weighing nearly one kilogram were allegedly stolen from the residence of a businessman in Gachibowli, prompting a police investigation into a suspected burglary.
Police suspect the involvement of a Nepali couple who had been employed as domestic helpers at the house about a month ago and are currently untraceable.
According to police, the businessman’s family had recently travelled to Mumbai and returned home on Monday. Upon their return, they found that the domestic workers were missing.
Initially,familymembers believed the couple had left without informing them, as there were no signs of forced entry and the locks remained intact.
Suspicion arose when a gold chain placed on an idol in the puja room was found missing. A further inspection of the house and almirahs revealed that several other gold ornaments had also disappeared.
Based on a complaint filed by the family, the Gachibowli police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Police officials are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area and gathering additional evidence. Special teams have also been formed to trace the suspects and recover the stolen jewellery.
