Workshop on “Button Masala Technique” at MANUU

Hyderabad, Nov 30: A Workshop on “Button Masala Technique” was organized today by Samana College of Design Studies (SCDS) at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU). Fashion designing and Interior designing courses are being conducted in the Center for Urdu Culture Studies building at MANUU in collaboration with SCDS. The workshop is part of this collaboration.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor said that by starting the fashion designing courses MANUU is setting an example to others. The course is a big step towards women empowerment. Though better results will not come immediately, it may take time, but once an opportunity comes the students can show their strength at national and international level with fashion designing skills.

The world famous designer, Mr. Anuj Sharma, who is the founder of button masala technique, explained about this unique way of making garments without using any machine or stitching. Dresses, purses, etc. can be made by using buttons and rubber bands without even cutting and sewing the cloth. With this technique one can reuse clothes by giving them different shapes and even can be washed. He said that about two lakh different kinds of garments can be made from one cloth. Prof Sharma has taught this technique in workshops held at 20 different countries.

Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar, Mrs. Samana Moosavi, Chairperson, SCDS and Mr. Md. Altaf Hussain, Director, SCDS were present on the occasion. Mrs. Sheeba Abbas, CEO, SCDS convened the program.
