Hyderabad, May 18: The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for several districts in Telangana as severe heatwave conditions are expected on Sunday.
According to weather officials, dry weather conditions are likely to continue across the State, while intense hot winds are expected in multiple northern districts.
The department warned that severe heatwave conditions may prevail in Rajanna Sircilla, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Adilabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad and Jagtial districts.
Authorities advised people to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure during afternoon hours.
Light Rains Warning For Several AP Districts
Meanwhile, the Amaravati Meteorological Centre predicted light rains accompanied by thunder in parts of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.
Light showers with thunderstorms are likely at isolated places in Manyam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Polavaram, Chittoor, Anantapur and Kurnool districts.
At the same time, extreme heat and hot wind conditions are expected in several mandals of Srikakulam district, including Amadalavalasa, Burja, Hiramandalam, Kanchili, Nandigam, Pathapatnam and Sompeta.
Weather officials also warned of severe heat conditions in multiple mandals of Vizianagaram district, including Badangi, Bobbili, Bondapalli, Dattirajeru, Gantyada, Merakamudidam, Ramabhadrapuram, Santakaviti, Terlam and Vangara.
Several mandals in Manyam district, including Balijipeta, Garugubilli, Gummalakshmipuram, Jiyyammavalasa, Komarada, Kurupam, Pachipenta, Palakonda, Salur, Seethampeta and Veeraghattam, are also likely to experience intense heat conditions.
The weather department advised people to drink sufficient water, wear light cotton clothes and avoid direct exposure to sunlight during peak daytime hours.
