4 Arrested For Circulation Old Video With Fake Information On Election Process 

Hyderabad, May 17 (Maxim News):  4 persons were arrested by Cyber Crimes, Hyderabad for circulating an old video with fake information on the election process and making it viral.

On 15-05-2024, received a complaint that, while the complainant was browsing Social media platforms like X ( Twitter ) and Facebook as a part of social media surveillance, he came across one video in which one person in a polling station was voting multiple times and saying that this incident happened at one of the Polling stations in Bahadurpura (Old city), Hyderabad in the recent Lok Sabha elections held on 13-05-2024.

However the alleged video was an old video recorded during West Bengal elections held in 2022. This video is going viral in various social media platforms due to which the common public would lose hope and confidence in the electoral system in India. Some persons are sharing this old video of West Bengal elections and circulating fake information that rigging happened at Old city, Hyderabad.

During the course of investigation, 4 accused persons were identified, who have posted the video on X ( twitter ) and circulated in Twitter account with a fake information that rigging had happened in one of the Polling Stations in Bahadurpura (Old City), Hyderabad in the recent Lok Sabha elections held on 13-05-2024 and without verifying whether it was correct or not and tagged the same to some others with intention to create a situation of re-elections in Hyderabad. 

 After making sincere efforts, Cyber Crime Police traced out the accused persons by names 1) Vurapalli Sravan, R/o Malkajgiri, Hyderabad, 2)Mohammed Bin Ali Al Gutmi R/o Nampally, Hyderabad, 3) Piddamulla Kashi R/o Osmanpura, Chaderghat, 4)Kanukati Mithilesh R/o Chikkadpally, Hyderabad and arrested them and produced before the XII ACMM Court, Nampally, Hyderabad and seized 4 mobile phones.

The investigation was done by a team of K.Madhulatha, Sri Mattam Raju, Inspectors of Police, SI Prasen Reddy along with Cyber Crime P.S. staff under the supervision of Sri. Chand Basha, Asst. Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crime P.S. and Sri Shiva Maruti, ACP. CCPS. (Maxim News)
