7 Kg Silver Coins Seized At RGIA, Passenger Detained

Hyderabad, August 11: CISF personnel seized around 7 kg of silver coins from a passenger at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad on Thursday.

The passenger was reportedly travelling from Hyderabad to Delhi when the silver coins were detected during security checks.

According to the information available, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel found the silver coins inside the passenger’s luggage during screening at the airport.

The passenger was reportedly unable to produce bills or other documents to establish the source and purchase details of the silver coins. Following this, CISF officials detained him for questioning.

Officials questioned the passenger about the silver coins and sought details of their purchase, ownership and intended destination. They are also examining whether the passenger had the required documents for transporting the precious metal.

The CISF has reportedly informed the concerned Customs and Income Tax authorities about the seizure. The agencies are expected to assess the quantity and value of the silver and verify the documents produced by the passenger.

Officials are also investigating the circumstances behind the transportation of the silver coins from Hyderabad to Delhi.

Further action will be taken based on the verification of the passenger’s documents, the value of the seized silver and the findings of the ongoing inquiry.
