Ultimatum To Junior Panchayat Secretaries Issued

Hyderabad, May 8 (Maxim News) The Telangana government has become serious about the strike of junior panchayat secretaries. To this extent, notices have been issued to the Junior Panchayat secretaries. It has issued an ultimatum to join duty till 5 pm on May 9th. The notices stated that if they did not attend their duties, they will be fired from their jobs. Panchayat Raj Department Chief Secretary Sandeep Sultania has issued a notice to this effect.

The junior Panchayat Secretaries (JPS) have been on strike since April 28 with the demand of making them regular.

The probationary period of JPS is completed on April 11, 2023 as decided by the state government. However, the government has not issued any order regarding regularization. It is for this reason that the junior panchayat secretaries went on strike. The government has announced that the JPS who joined duty on April 12, 2019 will be regularized after a three-year probationary period. After that, the probationary period was increased by another year. Even after the probationary period of four years, the government is not regularizing the junior panchayat secretaries. Every secretary has worked actively in making the villages ideal by implementing every development program decided by the government.

The other demands include that the outsourcing panchayat secretaries should be promoted as JPS and the period worked should be considered as part of the probationary period. They should also be regularised. The cadre strength of Panchayat secretaries across the state should be ascertained and announced, the families of the deceased junior panchayat secretaries should be supported by compassionate measures.
