Supreme Court Rejected PIL On Inauguration Of New Parliament Building

Delhi/Hyderabad, May 26 (Maxim News) The Supreme Court of India on Friday rejected a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed against the inauguration of new Parliament building by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and asking the President of India Droupadi Murmu for inauguration

A bench of Justice JK Maheshwari and Justice Ps Narasimha said that they know why this petition was filed. It refused to investigate it under Article 32 of the Constitution. This petition was filed by Advocate Jaya Sukin.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate the new Parliamet building on May 28. Around 20 opposition parties, including the Congress, are insisting that it be launched by the President. Advocate Sukin filed this petition in this context.

The petitioner brought to the notice of the court that as per Article 79 of the Constitution of India, the President is the executive head of the country. He said that the President should have invited Droupadi Murmu to this inaugural function. He said that the President has certain powers and performs various activities. It was alleged that Droupadi Murmu was not invited and that the inauguration ceremony of the Parliament building on Sunday was not being held as per the law.

He said that if the Court does not agree to investigate this, he will withdraw. He said there was malpractice behind keeping the President away from the Parliament inauguration programme. He said that the Lok Sabha Secretariat and the Central government insulted the President by not inviting her to this event.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing on behalf of the central government, said that if the petition is allowed to be withdrawn, it will be filed again in the High Court. The bench dismissed the petition.

Meanwhile, TDP, YSRCP, BJP, SAD and other parties are going to attend the inauguration ceremony of the New Parliament building. Congress, DMK and other parties are boycotting. (Maxim News)
